Emerging Creatives of Science (ECOS) uses interdisciplinary collaboration to make science and art spaces more inclusive, connecting creatives with scientists and organizations on projects that inspire action for the planet.

The Challenge

ECOS had a strong mission and an established community, but lacked the consistent communication infrastructure to reflect either. The podcast page buried information that mattered to both listeners and potential funders. The social presence didn't yet capture the depth of the organization's ethos. And there was no regular touchpoint, no newsletter, no content rhythm, to keep the community meaningfully connected.

1. Podcast landing page redesign

The initial brief was focused here: bring a design perspective to how the podcast was being communicated and marketed. The page was restructured to clearly surface episode content and the supplementary resources created alongside each episode to make it easier for both existing listeners and prospective contributors or funders to navigate and understand the value of each episode.

Approach

2. Visual asset development.

As the scope of the engagement expanded, work extended into developing enhanced visual assets for social channels. Each asset was designed to represent ECOS's ethos authentically — translating the intersection of art, science, and community into content that felt true to the brand rather than generic.

An illustration of an ocean scene with a large, coral-like structure resembling a mushroom or sea creature with intricate patterns, surrounded by marine life and plant details. Overlaid text announces an open call for ocean artists with a deadline of May 22.
Text overlay on collage of scientific and artistic images reads: "This is why research needs art".

3. Newsletter launch

Initiated the organization's first regular monthly newsletter, establishing a consistent communication channel to re-engage ECOS's existing community and maintain momentum between campaigns. This involved market research, copywriting, and collaborative campaign development with the broader team.

4. Outcome.

What began as a podcast redesign grew into a broader brand partnership, spanning strategy, social media, and a newsletter launch. Instagram followers doubled, while a more cohesive brand identity helped the organization better communicate its work and connect with its community.
